Which Illex soft lure should you choose?

Find the Sucker Punch, the Deraball, the Dexter Shad and Eel, and the Dunkle for pike. The Magic Craw, the Fivoss and the Magic Slim Shad for perch and black bass, the Magic Z Shad and the Fat Shad for zander and not forgetting the Nitro Shad and the Magic Swing Tail for sea bass.

Lure colour

As for colour, the starting point will be the environment. The clearer it is, the more natural colours you will use; the more opaque it is, the more flashy colours or dark shades — even black — you will use. This is a baseline that will need to be adjusted from day to day.

Lure vibration

As for vibration, the noisier the environment, the more we need our lure to be detected, the more we seek to emit vibrations through the swimming action, shape, plastic stiffness and the animation we impart to the lure. The calmer the environment, the more we can use discreet lures and slow animations.

Size

Size will also be a determining factor. In general, the colder the water, the larger the lure used. However, you must also take into account the size of the prey and adapt your choice based on what you see beneath the surface and the target species.

Classic sizes by species:

- Perch: 3 to 8cm
- Zander: 5 to 12cm
- Pike: 10 to 20cm
- Sea bass: 8 to 14cm
