Black Minnow: an exceptional soft lure

The Black Minnow is a shad-type soft lure with a modular rigging system based on a patented PH25 attachment and an exclusive Texas-style hook by VMC. It comes in 6 sizes ranging from 7 to 20 cm (no. 1 to no. 6), on which different weights (3 to 190 g) and shapes of jig heads can be fitted (7 different shapes). A numbering system (1 to 6) lets you know which weight goes with which body, just like for the hooks. Combined with the different colour options, you truly have everything you need to handle all fishing conditions at sea and in freshwater.

Whether you are fishing for sea bass, pollack, zander, perch, trout, etc., simply select the appropriate jig head (Zincky, Shallow, Shore, Search, Off Shore, Deep, X-Deep) according to the technique you wish to use, choose your colour, then add the hook. You are then ready to catch fish!

Which colour and size of Black Minnow should you choose?

Colour

As for colour, your starting point should be the environment. The clearer it is, the more you lean towards natural tones; the more opaque it is, the more you go for flashy colours or dark shades, even through to black. This is a baseline that will need adjusting depending on the day.

Size

Size will also be a determining factor. In general, the colder the water, the larger the lure you should use. However, you also need to take into account the size of the prey and adapt your choice based on what you see beneath the surface and the target species.

Classic sizes by species:

• - Perch: size #1
• - Zander: size #1 & 2
• - Pike: size #2 to 6
• - Sea bass: size #2 to 4
